Last time I was idle. Remember when I let the weight go off my legs. This time life has untouched making me have an indefinite walk. Please don’t inquire whether I am alone- but for the sake of inquisitiveness, may I tell you that the pandemonium of life has left no room for even the intimate friend. I particularly find it difficult to exhaustively approach the whole propositions of life in my almost shutting mind.
To exhaust it, it would be as easy as to count the atomies, going back to chemical compositions. Though I initially had indefinite place to go, my tiny brain allows me walk up the long rugged path to the sage. The unprecedented happenstance comes my way. I meet my friend Robin; looks so young. I gently pass my cold compliments and without more ado show me the way leading to the sages. Allow me to mysteriously let you know what transpire along the seemingly long path- perhaps of life.
Robin notes that am a young man beating the odds of being mortally young- looking old. He requests me to listen more from him and talk less. Thanks God I have a teachable spirit. Robin explains to me that in life, few people set the vision, steer the boat and hold ultimate responsibility for the results. The best thing they can do is all that they can do and once they have done that, they go home and have a good night’s sleep, the rest follow.
I immediately apprehend that I have to be the vision carrier, steer the boat and hold the ULTIMTE responsibility.
He explains that hard times do make better people who have titles but they perceive them as tools of keeping everything running smoothly in the society. These people never compete with anyone. They compete against their purpose in life. Robin notes that restaurant is the only place where you get good stuff first and then you pay the price. In life general, you need to pay the price of success first before you get all the rewards due to you.
A silence break from my friend comes with great words of wisdom. With relieve I turn to him as he prolong that true human heartbreak is reaching my final moments and realizing that I wasted the most important gift that was given to me the chance to present myself magnificence to the world around; the real key in living is to bring some emotion, energy, and passion into the equation. That is when real breakthrough happens. It produces turbulent times and it is those turbulent times that build great leaders. I note from him that to be a great leader, I have first to become a great person.
He elaborates that leadership is about having unshakable faith in your vision and unrelenting confidence in your power to make the positive change happen. In order to attain the greatest accomplishment, you need to be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else. You need to dare more than a reasonable person and risk far more than an ordinary person.
I finally realized that Robin was one of the mountain sages that I had decided to visit. In an outlook, this is what I learnt, that, success lies at the intersection where excellence meets honor and integrity always leads to beautiful rewards. These can only be achieved if one becomes courageous enough to ensure his/her deeds reflect own creed. An important part of showing leadership is to be more committed to speaking honestly than receiving the approval of others. If you have to be all that the sage told me, then obstacles will show up to measure how badly you want something.
In such circumstances, be masterful at understanding people and that comes down to deep listening. More important to note is that you should never use your possession and position to define you because if you lose them you lose yourself. Let us break the one world frenzy and know that innovation, mastery, authenticity, guts and ethics are key requirements in life; not only existing in the mind, deeds and creed of Robin and I. This makes me realize that it is fine to be content where I am, but never to be satisfied.
