AN ALL-ROUBNDED PRAYER: A SIMPLE GUIDE INTO GOD'S THRONE ROOM

The Worship session.
Praise the LORD!
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heaven!
2 Praise him for his mighty works; – Psalm 150 (NLT)

Worship in prayer is dynamic and inexhaustible. I have come to learn from time that everybody has a worship path they follow when in prayer, usually distinct from last time.It’s what the psalmist calls a new song in the 33rd Psalm. It’s a particular direction ordered by the Holy Ghost and my endeavor is to try to outline therefore how not to fall out, but remain on that path.

Let us consider the story of King Jehoshaphat;

20 Early the next morning the army of Judah went out into the wilderness of Tekoa. On the way Jehoshaphat stopped and said, “Listen to me, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Believe in the LORD your God, and you will be able to stand firm. Believe in his prophets, and you will succeed.”
21 After consulting the people, the king appointed singers to walk ahead of the army, singing to the LORD and praising him for his holy splendor. This is what they sang:
“Give thanks to the LORD;
his faithful love endures forever!”
22 At the very moment they began to sing and give praise, the LORD caused the armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir to start fighting among themselves.23 The armies of Moab and Ammon turned against their allies from Mount Seir and killed every one of them. After they had destroyed the army of Seir, they began attacking each other. -2 Chronicles 20:20-23(NLT)

God revealed to the King the best battle plan for such a time. Having the Levites lead ahead in praise and worship? The results were historical, never happened before. It’s also amazing how God in more than one occasion, required of the tribe of Judah to go first during battle. Judah means praise, giving emphasis to the undeniable significance of worship.

When God says worship comes first, its work is to meet your need. In that, your need is to see God and get closer to Him, communicate to Him, touch Him and have yourself wrapped up in His blessed embrace. This cannot happen when we have our heads high and bobbing. NO! We need to be stripped of our flesh. It’s like getting rid of all the fur in a coconut to end up with something portable, aesthetically appealing and easy to go round or breakable- this is the fruit of worship, it’s what worship achieves for and in you, a broken heart. God surely finds pleasure in our worship, yet it’s also a tool that gets the heart down to its knees, we can say it’s your proud-o-meter which works its way in you keeping your pride checked. You will find that when you are worshiping God, you are gradually and progressively taking away attention and focus from yourself, and indirectly telling your flesh, “as a matter of fact it’s not about you!”

I have found the confession from my lips that all glory belongs to God, as being a very sobering undertaking. Often times I confess that and the Holy Ghost begins reminding me of things I have done in the day that I was in some way expectant of the praise or attention of men. The vision of 24 elders in Revelations to John gives us greater understanding.

10 the twenty-four elders fall down and worship the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever). And they lay their crowns before the throne and say,
11 “You are worthy, O Lord our God,
to receive glory and honor and power.
For you created all things,
and they exist because you created what you pleased.”- Revelation 4: 10-11(NLT)

As men, we are limited in every way, every way that we would have God pleased by us. Praise God for his Grace! Our hearts are desperately wicked when left to tend to themselves and therefore our daily lives must be characterized of this; laying down our crowns, few or many, our achievements of this world, successes and our trophies. So that in the picture there is only God remaining. Glory be to Him. In Psalm 51: 16- 17 God says in paraphrase that before you bring me your sacrifice, I want your heart first. Sure thing you have sacrificed something to God, be it your time, your money, your resources, (all of which He has given you to steward), but when your heart is not right with God, it will never be about Him. Whatever you try to do will always be pharisaical, endeavoring to make a point to yourself and inevitably to men. But we come to God in worship, He brings out all this characters in us, and you will receive your mercy at the throne of God, joy will overwhelm you, love will satisfy you, peace will overflow and you will not want to leave the Father’s presence! Hallelujah!

God loves to be praised and when we worship, we talk directly to God as in every other prayer yet the feedback that you need, the glory that has to come down as our praises go up, can and shall only come from God, not Angels. There is scriptural evidence to this. Our Lord Jesus says that where your treasure is, there your heart is also, Solomon’s heart was given to God and he decided to offer a great sacrifice to God that no else has ever offered. Do you know what a combination of a given away heart and a wonderful sincere sacrifice does? It brings God down to your earthly tabernacle, and what an experience. Solomon had an encounter because he knew how to worship God. Since we live in the latter days of increased glory as outlined in Hosea, Let us go up to sanctuary of the Lord in worship.

One of the fundamentals of relationships and particularly intimate ones is that both parties must invest seriously on spending time with each other, quality time. That way you don’t have to always try to start all over again since in the place of devotion, you have backslid. The more you spend time together, the more you know them, the more you know of the terrible and amazing things about yourself, that is if you are honest. Our relationship with God is no different, and God you can trust, He will never fail you. In the fullness of time He always reveals Himself a little further and deeper, as you give way. We need to purpose to spend more time with God. Your devotion to God must be deliberate. Undoubtedly, we shall go deeper in our knowledge and understanding of with Him, little or much.

“Let us come boldly to the throne of Him (God), His mind, will, power and glory.God would like you to know how to maximize on the time you have our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most (Heb 4:16 NLT)”
God says in Isaiah 57:19 “I create the fruit of the lips:” then the Paul says in Hebrews 13:15 “Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise–the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.” See right there is the grace of God. We would like to praise God, worship Him, tell Him sweet amazing words about Himself, but in our flimsy understanding, we don’t know how to!According to Romans 8:26. By his grace, God places the praises, the worship and the words in our mouths that they resound back to him yet they must first be settled in our hearts. Glory be to God! Therefore, let us come to God boldly in the light and knowledge of His word.

Following the leading of the Holy Ghost, be in confession always that you really don’t know how to worship God Almighty, it’s Him (The Holy Ghost) who always helps, when we give Him way. Bless our Lord Jesus Christ.
