We call them year fellowships because these fellowships comprise of the students who did their KCSE the same year, though they may have joined the university at different months hence some are quite ahead of the others, we consider them of the same cohort. We usually have the first-year students, who get their name after some time of staying in school, with the second-year, third-year, fourth-year and even fifth-year students already having their different names.
They also have small families within the fellowship meant for accountability and mentorship. Most members within the fellowships undergo orientation into the ministries within the Union to engage themselves with activities of the Union.
In accomplishing their bachelor’s degree, they are now considered as associates of the union.
